Why is Windwool so cheap? Supply is vastly outpacing demand.<\/p>\n

  1. Drop rates for non-tailors is dramatically higher viz. Embersilk. There were \u00a0complaints about how rare cloth was in Cata for non-tailors.<\/li>\n
  2. Drop rates for tailors is pretty damn high, too. High enough so that a tailor can reasonably conclude that they can level tailoring simply by what they accumulate with leveling.<\/li>\n
  3. AoE looting has changed drop material farming. Anything that comes off mobs is easier to get because of it.<\/li>\n
  4. Professions have been modified so they aren’t as onerous to level; tailoring has gotten easier to level with each expansion since Wrath. (Wrath really sucked for tailoring, and continues to suck for tailoring.)<\/li>\n
  5. Remote AH access for everyone gives casual players an easy way to rid themselves of cloth while leveling while always undercutting, driving prices down.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
    If you have a situation where demand is lower (#2, #4) and supply is higher (#1, 3, 5), prices will rise.\u00a0<\/div>\n

    Will prices go up? Is it a smart idea to invest in Windwool to resell it in the future? I don’t really think so.\u00a0<\/div>\n

    1. As more players finish leveling to 90, will they be getting as much cloth off mobs from dailies? Possibly? There are a LOT of dailies out there. I think supply will drop off a bit when we have fewer levelers, but not a lot.<\/li>\n
    2. Will Blizzard nerf the drop rate? Probably not, because cheap cloth helps keep inflation under control.<\/li>\n
    3. AoE looting is here to stay. So are the profession levels and Remote AH access.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div>\n

      I think betting on prices going up is not smart. I do think, though, that as prices hit rock bottom (going for 50s a stack this morning) it becomes a more efficient use of time on non-tailors to buy cloth from the AH to level First Aid, and that you should level tailors to 550 as soon as possible to get the profession perks at 85 (or earlier).\u00a0<\/p>\n

      Stocking up for alts is not a bad idea. Just don’t expect to make money off of flipping cloth.\u00a0<\/p>\n
